Big Sur, CA

I’ve driven along Big Sur almost once a year since 2014 and never get tired of the glaring deep-blue breakers against the succulent greenery.

This time I went with a group of friends to visit a member of the group who recently transplanted to Monterey. We decided we’re all too old to care about anything other than comfort and practicality and so opted for a minivan roadtrip, a chaotic collaborative Spotify playlist, and an instance that everyone share a controversial opinion for the group to debate.

Those who’ve driven along the historic Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) would agree that it’s one of the most beautiful scenic drives in the United States. It was the wonderous achievement of modern roads that made driving from Mexico to Canada possible in the 1930s. Those paved concrete have been immortalized by classic American authors like Jack Kerouac and John Steinbeck.
